US Democrats, Republicans close to agree on raising debt ceiling before 17th Oct

In US, the Democrat and Republican leaders are close to reaching an agreement on how to increase the US borrowing limit.

The US government has been partially closed for more than two weeks. If they cannot agree on raising the borrowing limit by tomorrow, America could struggle to pay its bills, which will affect the global economy.

The US must raise its 16.7 trillion dollar debt limit by tomorrow or risk default. Politicians, bankers and economists have warned of global economic consequences unless an agreement can be reached.

Amid the Congressional disarray, a top ratings agency has warned of a possible downgrade in the US credit-worthiness.
