US delays ban on American technology exports to Huawei until mid-August

US officials have delayed a ban on American technology exports to Chinese tech giant Huawei until mid-August, saying the time was needed to allow for software s and other contractual obligations.
''
''The US Commerce Department yesterday said the delay does not change the ban imposed by President Donald Trump on national security grounds.
''
''The company is still prohibited from buying American parts and components to manufacture new products without license approvals that likely will be denied. The US Department said it will evaluate whether to extend the exemptions beyond 90 days. According the Commerce Department , the extension is effective through 19 August this year.
''
''Meanwhile, US internet giant Google is blocking Huawei from some s to the Android operating system, in a blow to the world's second-biggest smartphone maker.
''
''The move comes after the Trump administration added Huawei to a list of companies that American firms cannot trade with unless they have a license.
