The US has said that it is committed to improve trade relations with India. Talking to newspersons in New Delhi today, after his meeting with the Commerce Minister, Mr.Anand Sharma, the US Trade representative Ronald Kirk said that he is in India to augment mechanism for building robust trade relationship between the two countries. Mr.Kirk said he discussed with Mr. Anand Sharma ways to improve trade and investment in infrastructure, healthcare, education, information technology and energy.The visiting dignitary said he had sought a more liberal environment for US investments into India.Mr.Kirk said that both the countries are exploring every avenue for meaningful market. He said that some of the markets like agriculture are open and he hopes so would be others . On the opening of HIB visa, he said that there are issues of immigration rights and the US Administration is working with Congress to resolve it. On the alleged protectionist trade measures being adopted by the US, the visiting dignitary said that US is seeking trade remedies under the bilateral trade framework.
