US has called for unconditional talks between China and Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama. The Obama Administration said in its annual report to the US Congress that leaving the Tibet issue unresolved would create greater tension in the Communist state and will be an impediment to its social and economic development. It said China's engagement with the Dalai Lama or his representatives to resolve problems facing Tibetans is in the interests of both the Chinese government and the Tibetan people. The report submitted to the Congress this month further said the US government believes that the Dalai Lama can be a constructive partner for China as it deals with the difficult challenge of continuing tensions in Tibetan areas.
