The United States called on Iran today to immediately release US citizens and other foreigners detained on fabricated national security charges. A State Department official said that they have called for the immediate release of all US citizens unjustly detained in Iran so they can return to their families. <br/><br/>The statement came after Tehran said an unnamed American has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. Washington and Tehran have had no diplomatic relations since 1980 in the wake of the Islamic revolution and tensions have sharpened under US President Donald Trump.
