In United states, the northeast has been slammed with a major winter storm. An estimated 3,500 flights have been cancelled and from 6-24 inches of snow are expected to accumulate through today morning in the region. <br/><br/>The storm is centered on Long Island Sound, but has spread from Washington DC to Bangor, Maine. In total, some 60-million Americans will suffer from the temporary slowdown. In addition to the cancellations, around 3,900 flights have been delayed, according to Flight Aware. Public schools in New York, Philadelphia and Boston have been closed.
