The US ambassdor in New Delhi Timothy Roemer today evaded a direct reply on the impact of the ban on outsourcing of the government IT and back office projects by the state of Ohio. He told reporters in New Delhi that such attempts were made in the US in 2005 but had little impact on growing Indo-US trade partnership. He said India is an indispensable US partner and it is the 14th largest trading partner of America. Mr. Timothy Roemer said that the two countries are working together on next green revolution, addressing the growing impact of climate change, creation of jobs besides the joint fight against the menace of global terrorism. New Delhi says it will formally convey its disappointment to the United States over the ban on the offshore outsourcing at the high level trade policy forum meeting in Washington later this month. The Commerce Minister Mr. Anand Sharma said in New Delhi that he will raise the issue in the meeting to be co chaired by US trade representative Ron Krik. The Surface Transport Minister said that outsourcing is an economic issue and US is not doing any favour to India. The Prime Minister's Advisor on infrastructure Sam Pitroda said that the US government has acted in panic.
