Washington says, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in his first major India-policy speech set the tone of bilateral relationship between India and the US for 100 years. <br/><br/>A State Department official told reporters that Mr Tillerson's speech was designed for many audiences including China. <br/><br/>The official said, a free and open Indo-Pacific is a priority for both the US President and the Secretary of State as India is one of the anchors of an Indo-Pacific strategy, the Trump Administration wants to devote a lot of time to this country.<br/><br/>In his speech before the Center for Strategic and International Studies, CSIS, Mr Tillerson said, President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are committed to building an ambitious partnership that benefits not just their countries but also other nations working towards peace and stability. <br/><br/>He made an impassioned plea for closer ties with India while casting China as a threat to the world order and saying Pakistan needed to do more to fight terrorism. <br/><br/>He also supported New Delhi's opposition to One-Belt One-Road initiative of China. India is opposed to the project as it passes through Pak-occupied Kashmir. Mr Tillerson is travelling to India next week.
