US asks Pakistan to curb terrorism and terrorists safe heavens on its soilThe United States has asked Pakistan to do more to curb terrorism and terrorist safe havens as Islamabad has a special obligation to do so. The US has also pledged full support to India's efforts to protect itself from terror attacks, saying it intends to continue to press Pakistan as hard as possible to fight the menace. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, it has been made clear to Pakistan that confronting violent extremism of all sorts is in its interest. Ms Clinton was addressing a joint press conference with her Indian counterpart Mr. S.M.Krishna after the second round of Indo-US Strategic Dialogue in New Delhi on Tuesday. She pointed out that the issue of homeland security and counter-terrorism were given special emphasis and added that both sides are exploring ways to protect the two countries from the scourge of terrorism. Secretary Clinton offered her prayers and sympathies to the victims of the despicable attacks in Mumbai on 13th of this month and offered support to India's efforts to bring the perpetrators of these terrible crimes to justice.Referring to the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, she said, the US has made it very clear that there is an absolute international responsibility to cooperate to bring the perpetrators to justice. The US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton reiterated America's commitment to the implementation of India-US Civil Nuclear deal. The External Affairs Minister Mr. S.M. Krishna said that the two countries have agreed to resume negotiations on bilateral investment treaty to widen commerce between the two countries.
