The US President Barack Obama has approved the use of armed Predator drones in Libya against forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi. This was disclosed by Defence Secretary Robert Gates at a Pentagon news conference. He said it will give international coalition forces some precision capability. General James Cartwright, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, however said the first predator flights launched yesterday had to come back because of bad weather. He said these flights are uniquely suited for urban areas where they can fly low and cause damages. In another development, the British Prime Minister David Cameron said that NATO is not moving toward deployment of ground troops in Libya despite the decision by several European nations to send military staff to assist rebel forces.Italy, France and Britain are sending experienced combat advisers to help train and organize Libya's opposition forces as they struggle to end Moammar Gaddafi's grip on power. They however say that NATO and allies will not overstep boundaries set out in the United Nations resolution authorizing action in Libya.
