US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas says Bangladesh found no better partner than US

The United States Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas has said that Bangladesh has found no better partner than the US and the US intends to build upon that partnership over the next 50 years. Commending Bangladesh for its remarkable five decades of independence, Ambassador Haas said that since recognizing Bangladesh in 1972, the US has provided more than eight billion US Dollars to it in the form of development assistance.
''
''Calling Bangladesh's transformation over the past 50 years as stunning, Ambassador Haas said that today Bangladesh is widely admired as a success story. He said, Bangladesh is one of the world's most vulnerable nations to the effects of climate change, but it has emerged as a powerful voice in urging major emitting countries to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. It is also a powerful voice in calling for financing for climate adaptation.
''
''Underlining the similarities between the aspirations of the two countries, Mr Haas said that the US and Bangladesh both want the same things- a vibrant, secure, and prosperous democracy, an accountable judicial system and basic human rights for everyone. Bangladesh can count on our partnership for decades to come to accomplish these shared goals. Echoing similar sentiments, US President Joe Biden in a letter to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sent on the occasion of the 50 years of the establishment of the diplomatic ties between the two countries said that the partnership between the two countries will flourish for the next 50 years and beyond. President Biden said that the US is proud of its partnership on development, economic growth and counterterrorism with Bangladesh.
