Eminent Urdu scholar Prof. Gopi Chand Narang has been conferred with the prestigeous Moortidevi Award for 2010. Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari gave away the award to Prof. Narang for his outstanding work 'Urdu Ghazal aur Hindustani Zehan wa Tehzeeb' at a function in New Delhi today. Congratulating Mr Narang, the Vice President said that he has revived Urdu language in the country through his writings and is one of the foremost theorists, literary critics and Urdu scholars of the country.
