Upto 50% seats in PG courses may be reserved for medical officers

The government today said upto 50 per cent of the seats in post graduate courses in government colleges may be reserved by the appropriate state governments and union territories for medical officers in the government services, who have served for at least three years in remote and difficult areas. <br/><br/>Replying to questions in the Lok Sabha, minister of state for Health, Faggan Singh Kulaste said after acquiring the PG degree, the medical officers may further be required to serve for a period up to three years in remote and difficult areas by the state governments.<br/><br/>Mr Kulaste said the draft amendment bill was hosted on the ministry's website for feedback from general public. The minister also informed the House that around one lakh responses including emails have been received.<br/><br/>He, however, said there has been no report in the recent past by WHO where it was stated that a staggering 70 per cent of the rural population has minimal access to healthcare.
