Uproarious scenes in J&K Assembly

Jammu and Kashmir State Legislative Assembly today witnessed uproarious scenes when main opposition party Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and BJP members tried to disrupt the Question Hour today. PDP which had moved an adjournment motion in the Legislative Assembly yesterday wanted suspension of today’s business to discuss prevailing situation in Kashmir . As soon as the House met today, the PDP memberswere on their feet demanding suspension of the Question Hour and other business. BJP members also started raising slogans against the Government for preventing it from hoisting Tricolor at Lal Chowk, Srinagar on Republic Day and staged a walkout . However, the PDP members continued to raise the slogans during the entire Question Hour and tried to troop into the well of the House and during the process had a scuffle with Marshalls of the House. Speaker, Mr. Mohd. Akbar Lone, however, continued with the scheduled business. Later addressing media persons, President Peoples Democratic Party, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti accused the State Government of silencing the voice of Opposition and alleged that the situation in Kashmir Valley has deteriorated alarmingly.
