Uproar in RS as BSP, Cong seeks dismissal of Punjab govt over violence against Dalits

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned thrice till 12.30 pm today as BSP and Congress members demanded dismissal of the coalition government in Punjab. As soon as the House met for the day, BSP members trooped into well raising slogans against the state government. They alleged that a Shiromani Akali Dal leader who allegedly chopped off of the hands and legs of two dalits. They were joined by Congress members, who also rushed to the well of the House. <br/><br/>Later, Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad described the action of the Akali leader as worse than terrorism. He said a 12-year-old girl was also killed. Mr Azad demanded that the state government should be dismissed immediately. <br/><br/>Raising the issue BSP Chief demanded the dismissal of the Punjab government. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said the state government is taking action against the people responsible for such activities. Deputy Chairman Prof. P J Kurien adjourned the till noon. As the uproar continued, the House was further adjourned till 12.30 pm.
