Uproar in Parliament over missing coal files and petro price hike

The issues of missing coal files and hike in the price of petroleum products stalled proceedings in the Rajya Sabha which witnessed four adjournments in the pre-lunch session today. Later the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 2 PM.

Opposition parties in the Lok Sabha demanded the roll back of the price hike of petroleum products. Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, Anantha Kumar of the BJP demanded that the government should bring down taxes on petroleum products as it is responsible for inflation. He accused the government of mismanaging the country’s economy.

He said that Finance Minister should clarify the situation.Basudeb Acharia of the CPIM alleged that the government is reducing subsidy on cooking gas. Members from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu clashed over Cauvery river waters and trooped into the well by raising slogans.
