Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has set January 5 as the deadline for schools to develop and update their website with comprehensive information. In a circular issued to schools, the board has said that many schools had still not developed their websites or not updated them.

In October 2010, CBSE made it mandatory for every affiliated school to develop its own website, containing necessary information about the school, which includes affiliation status, infrastructure details, names and designation of teachers, class-wise enrollment of students and details of the school management committee, among others.
