Ministry of External Affairs has expressed confidence that the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Myanmar will contribute greatly to further strengthening the bilateral ties between these two countries. Talking exclusively to AIR at Nay Pyi Taw, the Capital City of Myanmar, Sripriya Ranganathan, Joint Secretary in-charge of Bangladesh and Myanmar in the External Affairs Ministry, said, the interaction between the highest political leaders of both sides has been very effective since the new government took over in Myanmar last year. <br/><br/>She said, the visit also provides an opportunity to both the countries to discuss ways to enhance their bilateral trades.<br/> '<br/>On the issue of promotion of tourism between the two countries, Ms Ranganathan said, tourism is one of the biggest strings of relationship and ways and means through which it can be further strengthened, will come up on the agenda for discussion between Prime Minister Modi and Myanmar leadership.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that Mr Modi is visiting Myanmar on a three day State visit on the second and final leg of his two nation tour. He will reach Nay Pyi Taw from China. It is Prime Minister's first bilateral visit to Myanmar. Earlier he visited the country in 2014 for ASEAN-India summit. After concluding his engagements in Nay Pyi Taw, Mr Modi will then travel to Bagan and Yangon.
