UPA government should have cancelled all 2G licences when scam came to light: P Chidambaram

Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram has said that UPA government should have cancelled all 2G licences when scam came to light. Responding to question at a discussion during a book launch function in New Delhi Friday, he said mishandling of the 2G scam hurt the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections. Mr Chidambaram said he had suggested to the UPA government to cancel 2G licences. He said, the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, should have put his foot down without waiting for the Supreme Court order. Mr Chidambaram said, the issue of 2G licence could have been handled differently.
