The meeting of the UPA alliance partners began in Parliament House this afternoon to break the logjam over Foreign Direct Investment, FDI in retail issue. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Agriculture Minister and NCP leader Sharad Pawar, Civil Aviation Minister and Rashtriya Lok Dal leader, Ajit Singh and DMK leader T R Baalu are attending the meeting.
Yesterday, an all-party meet convened by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath had failed to arrive at consensus with the BJP and the Left parties insisting on a discussion under a rule which entails voting.
