In Uttar Pradesh, elections for Zila Panchayat chairpersons will be held on 12th of next month. After successful completion of the three tier Panchayat elections, the State Election Commission is gearing up for the crucial polls to elect Zila Panchayat chairpersons. The commission has fixed 5th of next month as last date for nominations and December 8 is scheduled for nomination withdrawal. Polling for the post will be held in the office chamber of all the District Magistrates.Meanwhile, the Commission has clarified that even a Zila Panchayat member belonging to a reserved caste elected from general ward will be entitled for contesting elections against the reserved post. The Commission has also directed the all district magistrates in case of unopposed elections, results will be announced only after getting consent from the Commission. Nomination process begins from 3rd of next month. A notification for the elections both from State Government and the commission has been already issued.
