In Uttar Pradesh, a dreaded criminal carrying a reward of one lakh rupees – Rakesh Pandey alias Hanuman Pandey was killed in an encounter with police in Lucknow last night. He was an accused in the killing of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai in 2005 in Ghazipur district.<br />'' <br />'' STF IG Amitabh Yash said, a team was continuously trying to track him for the past many months. Mr Yash said the dreaded criminal was gunned down in retaliatory fire while the police team was trying to arrest him. Pandey had come to meet one of his accomplices on Kanpur Road under Sarojini Nagar police station area.<br />'' <br />'' STF IG said, Pandey was involved in several murders and shootouts carried out by Mukhtar Ansari's gang.<br />''  <br />
