Up to set up 15 highways under PPP mode

In Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to develop and maintain 15 state highways under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in the state. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that companies to develop international standard facilities including utility centre, toll plaza, service lanes and bus shelters in these identified state highways will be selected through bidding process. <br/> <br/>It was decided in the meeting of the State Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Ms Mayawati. The Government has decided to transfer these roads from Public Works Department to recently-constituted UP State Highways authority on the condition that till they are handed over to the private developers they would continue to be maintained by the PWD. <br/>
