In UP, a massive vaccination programme will be launched in 32 districts of the state to curb the perennial menace of Japanese Encephalitis. More than three lakhs children up to the age of 15 years will be vaccinated under the second phase of centrally sponsored programme.<br/><br/>AIR Gorakhpur correspondent reports that the first phase was launched in 2006 after which a marked decline was reported in JE cases. <br/><br/>The disease which is prevailing in the eastern and terai regions for more than three decades has claimed around 12000 lives, mostly of children till now. This year, the disease has claimed 61 lives.<br/><br/>The official sources said in Gorakhpur that the vaccination drive would be launched from 31st of this month till June 8. During the drive, booths will be established in primary health centres, schools and other public places.
