Uttar Pradesh government decided to create a new Uttar Pradesh National Capital Region Police Zone by merging of Sharanpur and Meerut police ranges. Our Lucknow correspondent reports that it has been announced in a bid to control crime in the national capital region after surprise visit of Chief Minister Mayawati at Gautam Buddha Nagar, Ghaziabad , Meerut and Bagpath districts. She visited these districts two days ago to review the progress of development works and law and order situation. The State government said, the headquarters of the new zone will be at Meerut and it will be headed by an ADG level officer. Meanwhile, four police officers of Gautam Buddha Nagar district, including district police chief have been transferred. Chief Minister had expressed her displeasure over law and order situation in the district.
