UP tables bill to raise special force for security of memorials

In Uttar Pradesh the government has tabled a bill in the Assembly for raising a special force for providing security to the 10 memorials, statues and parks set up at Lucknow and Gautam Buddh Nagar districts under the BSP government. It includes the Gomti Nagar situated Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Sthal, Dr Ambedkar Vihar, Manyavar Kanshiramji Smarak Sthal as well as 13, Mall Avenue the bungalow allotted to Mayawati when she was earlier the chief minister and has since then been converted into a memorial, Ramabai Amedkar Maidan, Smriti Upwan, Kanshi Ram Eco Park and NOIDA based Samta Mulak Sthal.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that the bill was tabled in the house by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mr. Lalji Verma. The bill has described the various memorials, parks set up by Mayawati government as special regions for the purpose of providing security to them.<br/><br/>According to the bill, the raising of the force would cost 53 crore rupees while its annual expenditure is estimated to be around 14 crore rupees. In the initial stage, only one battalion of the force would be raised but the state government would have the right to further expand it.
