In Uttar Pradesh, a new district Prabuddha Nagar was set up on Wednesday carving out Muzaffar Nagar district in the western region of the state. It was announced by the Chief Minister Mayawati at Muzaffarnagar while addressing a gathering at Shamli. She said two tehsils Shamli and Kairana of Muzaffarnagar district are being included in the newly set up district.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that the headquarters of the new district will be set up at Shamli and its name will not be changed. It will be 73th district of the state and as per the recent census of 2011, a total of 12 lakhs 51 thousand populations will be covered in the new district.
