In Uttar Pradesh, poll process for two Assembly by-elections in Nidhauli Kalan in Etah and Lakhimpur in Lakhimpur Kheri district begins today with issuance of notification. Polling will be held on 20th of next month.AIR correspondent reports the last date for filing of nominations is October 30. Scrutiny will take place on November 1, while the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is November 3. The Nidhauli Kalan and Lakhimpur Assembly seats had fallen vacant following the death of Samajwadi Party MLAs Anil Kumar Singh Yadav and Dr Kaushal Kishore respectively in the month of June this year.Meanwhile, canvassing for 4th and last phase of three tier Panchayat elections comes to an end this evening. Polling will be held on 25th of this month in 186 development blocks in this phase.
