Uttar Pradesh government has sounded high alert and security has been stepped up across the state in view of the 18th anniversary of demolition of the disputed structure at Ayodhya today. Faizabad Superintendent of Police A.K. Rai told AIR Allahabad correspondent that stringent security arrangements have been placed in Ayodhya and no vehicles would be allowed to enter the district from today morning while passes have issued for local vehicles in Ayodhya. Authorities have banned observance of the day by political parties through different functions to avert any law and order problem. Besides the regular police force, five companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and two companies of Rapid Action Force have also been deployed in the sensitive areas of Ayodhya and Faizabad. Several units of Bomb Disposal Squads and Anti Sabotage Teams have also been put on job to check any untoward incident. RAF teams have also been deployed in Faizabad, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Moradabad, Aligarh, Varanasi, Mau, Kanpur and other districts. In Andhra Pradesh, elaborate security arrangements have been made in Hyderabad and other places across the state in view the anniversary of the demolition of controversial structure at Ayodhya. Prohibitory orders under section 144 have been imposed in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad while Processions and public meetings have been banned. Security forces have been deployed in huge numbers in sensitive old city areas to prevent any untoward incident. Patrolling in all important areas has been stepped up while vehicle checking and frisking of people also intensified.
