UP Revenue Min resigns over alleged involvement in CMO abduction

In Uttar Pradesh, the Minister of State for Revenue and Rehabilitation, Vinod Singh alias Pandit Singh today tendered his resignation to the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and the Governor B L Joshi.A spokesperson from his office told our Allahabad Correspondent that the Minister has sent his resignation seeking free and fair probe into his alleged involvement in the alleged abduction of Gonda district Chief Medical Officer, CMO, Dr. SP Singh. In his resignation letter, he has said that it was a conspiracy against him by his opponents to tarnish his and ruling party's image.Our Correspondent reports that a two member high level committee has been set up by the government to inquire into the incident and report of the Committee is likely to be submitted this evening. Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mr. Ahmad Hassan has asked the committee led by Additional Director-Health to submit its report. Mr. Hassan has also briefed about the incident to the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav and they have taken strong note of the incident.As per reports available the Minister of State for Revenue and Rehabilitation, Mr. Vinod Singh alias Pandit Singh had abducted the CMO expressing his unhappiness over non-inclusion of his nominees on the list of doctors on contract recruited by the district health department under National Rural Health Mission, NRHM.The CMO was released from the hands of the Minister with the interference of the District Magistrate and District Police Chief. He has left the district seeking his transfer. Principal Secretary Medical and Health of the state, J P Sharma has said that the CMO has not filed any written complaint in this regard but government is in touch with the local officials and employees to get details of the incident.
