The Uttar Pradesh Government has amended its Act to give parole to convicted jail inmates for short period of three days on the death and marriages of their close family members, including parents, sisters, brothers’ sons and daughters.Quoting official sources, AIR Allahabad correspondent reports that the Government has removed the restrictions imposed on parole for short period to jail inmates with the amendment.As per new provisions, convicted jail inmates can be released for three days on the occasion of marriage of their sons and daughters and similarly on the death of their parents, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters. The State Government and the District Magistrates of concerned district are now authorised to issue short-term release order under amended rules suspending punishment orders for the said period.
