The Uttar Pradesh government reiterated today its decision to withdraw cases lodged against farmers during agitation against land acquisition in different districts from western region. Inaugurating 165 kilometer long Yamuna Express Way connecting Agra and Delhi this morning at Lucknow Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav directed the officials for expedite such matters on priority basis. He said cases lodged against farmers from Tappal in Aligarh have already been withdrawn. Our Allahabad correspondent reports that about 11 thousand crore rupees have been spent on the construction of this controversial expressway. Farmers from the Agra, Mathura, Aligarh and Gautam Buddha Nagar had launched agitation against the land acquisition of the land and rates for the acquired land. Developers have claimed that journey between Delhi and Agra will be completed within two hours through this six lane expressway. A total of 35 under passes, 45 small bridges and one over Railway Bridge have been constructed for smooth hassles free journey for Taj city and National capital.
