In Uttar Pradesh moderate to heavy rainfall has lashed the state at many places in the past 24 hours as the monsoon remained active over the state.Our Allahabad correspondent reports that about 49 Millimetre rainfall has been recorded in the state during last 24 hours. Maximum 18 mm rainfall has been recorded at Etawah followed by 16 mm at Bareilly district. The met officials have predicted Rain and thundershower would occur at many places over the state and one or two places could receive heavy rains during the next 48 hours.The Central Water Commission has said that Sharda River at Palia Kalan in Lakhimpur Kheri district was still flowing above the red mark but Ghaghara which is flowing above the danger mark at Elgin Bridge in Barabanki and just below the red mark at Ayodhya and Turtipar was rising. Water level of the River was affected after release of more than one lakhs cusecs of water from Banbasa barrage. Among other rivers, Yamuna was rising from Baghpat to Agra and Rapti from Bahraich to Basti.In Barabanki more than 3000 families from 24 villages of three Tehsils are affected with flood water of river Ghaghara. Flood has also destroyed standing crop in above 2000 hectare of area in the district.
