In Uttar Pradesh, procurement of wheat began today. The government has fixed minimum support price for current Rabi season at 1,120 rupees per quintal. The government has fixed a target of procuring 40 Lakh Metric Tonnes of wheat during the current season. About 4500 purchase centres have been opened by the state agencies to facilitate the procurement. Fire tenders have been put on alert throughout the state for any exigency. Temporary fire stations have also been established in rural areas.
