UP Polls: Withdrawal of nominations for 2nd phase ends today

In UP, the nomination process for second phase of assembly elections will be completed today as it is the last day of withdrawal of papers.The polling for this phase will be held on 11th February.AIR Gorakhpur correspondent reports that tomorrow is the last date of nomination for third phase which is going to poll on the 15th of next month.Nomination is also on for 56 assembly segments for 4th phase that are going to polls on the 19th February. The process of nomination for 49 assembly constituency of fifth phase will begin from tomorrow with the issuance of notification. AIR Gorakhpur correspondent reports that the Congress is to issue its vision document today, while the BJP is releasing its election manifesto. The election commission has already deputed its general observers in the areas of first to fourth phase elections. Chief Minister Mayawati is scheduled to begin her election campaign from west UP today.The Congress’ youth icon and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi will address election rallies in Hardoi and Unnao.BJP leader Uma Bharati and BSP leader Satish Misra are also addressing several rallies in first and second phase poll areas. The election commission is keeping a strict vigil on expenses of candidates and parties. It has announced strict action against those candidates who have filed nomination to support others. Nomination of many of them has been rejected during the scrutiny in 1st and 2nd phases.
