In Uttar Pradesh, nominations for the 2nd phase of Assembly election have also begun with the issuance of notification. Polling in 59 constituencies spread over 9 districts of the eastern region including Sant Kabir Nagar, Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Deoria, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia and Ghazipur districts would be held on February 11. A total of 12995 polling stations will be set up for more than 1 crore 92 lakhs voters. AIR Gorakhpur correspondent adds that the second phase of Assembly election is politically very sensitive as the ruling BSP has preferred fresh candidates in place of sitting MLAs and ministers. The ruling BSP had strong presence in all 9 districts of eastern UP that are going to polls on 11th of next month.
