UP Polls: More than 60% voter turnout in 7th phase of assembly polls today

Uttar Pradesh has recorded 60.03 percent voter turnout in the 7th and last phase of assembly polls till 5 PM today compared to 57.56 percent in 2012. Forty assembly constituencies spread over seven districts of the state went to polls in this phase today. Deputy Election Commissioner Vijay Dev told reporters in New Delhi that polling was peaceful. He said, the poll percentage is expected to marginally go up as the final figures are yet to come. <br/> <br/>Our correspondent reports that the overall polling percentage of last six phases in Uttar Pradesh election stood at 61.18 per cent as against 59.75 per cent in 2012. Manipur has recorded 86 per cent polling in the 2nd and last phase of assembly polls in 75 percent of the polling stations from where reports have come in. 22 Assembly Constituencies spread over ten districts went to poll in this phase. <br/><br/>Director General in EC, Sudeep Jain said, 25 percent of polling stations are in inaccessible area and details of poll percentage are yet to come. Polling went off peacefully barring stray incidents. No case of paid news and poll boycott were reported.<br/><br/>Our correspondent further reports that one Booth Level Officer was killed in a bomb blast yesterday in Ukhrul District of Manipur. He said, an ex-gratia of 20 lakh rupees was released to family of the deceased.
