In Uttar Pradesh, the nomination process for the third phase of assembly election ends on Wednesday evening as today is the last day of withdrawal of candidature. Filing of nominations for fourth phase will also end today.

The nomination process for fifth phase is going on, fourth February is the last date of filing nomination for this phase. Notification for sixth phase will begin tomorrow. The assembly election is being held in the state in seven phases from 8th February to 3rd March.

Meanwhile, campaigning has become intense in first and second phase areas. Top political leaders are addressing election rallies to garner support in their favour. Congress MP Rajbabbar addressed rally in Ballia while former BJP president Rajnath Singh held a rally in Basti yesterday.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi is scheduled to address a rally in Deoria while Rahul Gandhi will address a series of rallies in Bahraich, Faizabad and Ambedkar Nagar District. BJP leader Sushma Swaraj is also addressing rallies in Siddharthanagar.

AIR Gorakhpur correspondent reports that the Election Commission will review poll preparedness in first phase areas in Faizabad today.

Sensivity of polling booths, law and orders situation and arrangement to facilitate voting will be assessed during the meeting.
