In Uttar Pradesh, the electioneering in third, fourth and fifth phase has picked up the pace. The BSP Chief Mayawati held several public meetings in Mirzapur and Sonebhadra districts. BJP leader Rajnath Singh, SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav and senior Congress leaders are in the area pitching for their candidates. Priyanka Vadra and Rahul Gandhi held a road show in Raebareli today which is going to poll in 4th phase on 19th February. The poll preparations in third phase areas are in its last leg. The elections for third phase will be held on 15th February for 56 constituencies spread in 10 districts of Central and Vindhyanchal regions of the state. Over 1.75 Crore voters will decide the fate of 1021 candidates in third phase. Meanwhile, filing of nomination for 7th phase will end tomorrow. So far, a total of 711 candidates have filed their nominations in 7th phase of elections. Tomorrow is also the last day for withdrawal of candidature for 6th phase election. The polling for these two phases will be held on 28th February and 3rd March respectively. The elections for 403 seats of UP assembly are being held in 7 phases between 8th February and 3rd March. The counting will be held simultaneously on 6th March.
