UP Polls: Fourth phase nomination process begins

In Uttar Pradesh, the nomination process for the fourth phase of Assembly elections has begun today.56 Assembly constituencies spread in 11 districts will go for polls on 19th February in this phase. The nomination process is on for the third phase for which several prominent candidates including former Assembly speaker Keshari Nath Tripathi and state Congress Vice President Shekhar Bahuguna have filed their papers. A total of 1144 candidates are now in fray for the second phase after rejection of 57 nominations. Last date for withdrawal of nominations for this phase is 27th January.The state level leaders of political parties are addressing rallies in the area going to polls in the first and second phase, as many star campaigners of national parties are focusing for now, on Uttarakhand.Meanwhile, the Election Commission is conducting Training Programme for the poll related officials. The general observers have reviewed the poll arrangements in the respective areas.AIR Gorakhpur correspondent reports that the Commission has organised Voters' Awareness Programme on a large scale on the occasion of second National Voters Day today. Young voters are being given pledge to vote in every district apart from taking out rallies, marathon run and candle march across the state.
