In Uttar Pradesh, polling is on at 49 districts for the post of Chairman for Zila Panchayats. It begun from 11AM and will continue till 3 PM. Candidates in 23 districts, most of them ruling BSP supporters, have already been declared elected unopposed. They includes 15 women. Counting will be taken up just after the voting is over. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports, State Election Commission has appointed 50 special observers to monitor the process. To Insure free and fair voting the commission banned the visits of state government ministers to the poll bound districts. The Commission has also directed complete and detail videography of the polling process.
