In Uttar Pradesh the Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI, filed a charge sheet against seven persons including 5 senior officers from Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam in connection with multi crore National Rural Health Mission scam in the state. The charge sheet was filed in the Ghaziabad based special CBI Court yesterday.The CBI has not included names of jailed former BSP government Minister Babu Singh Kushwaha and BSP MLA RP Jaiswal in its first charge sheet. Both are lodged in Dasna jail in Ghaziabad. The CBI court has extended their judicial remand till 17th of this month. The probe agency has said that further investigation in the case continues regarding the role of the then Minister and other accused and suspects. The case pertained to upgradation of 134 districts hospitals for an amount of above 13 crore rupees. The CBI has claimed that it was revealed during investigation that officials of Jal Nigam in connivance with private persons allegedly misappropriated major amount meant for the work causing a loss of about 8 crore rupees to the public exchequer. The CBI had earlier registered five Preliminary Enquiries relating to alleged irregularities in the execution and implementation of NRHM funds in the State its inception in the year 2005-06 till November, 2011 on the directions of the Allahabad High Court.
