The Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to give financial assistance of Rs 6 lakh annually to recognised 200 primary schools run by private management having scheduled caste students in majority. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that as per the decision, private primary recognised schools are being identified across the state with minimum standards for the grant. This fixed grant would be paid to the selected schools once in a year and of them Rs lakhs would be spent on salaries of teachers and remaining one lakh on the building construction and to set up other infrastructure. The decision in this regard was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mayawati.The Government also decided to include 28 Sanskrit institutions and 61 Alia-level recognised Madarsas in grant aid list to provide them financial assistance from the current academic session. There are total 1,306 recognised Madarsas of Alia level in the state of which only 360 are aided from the government. The State government would have to bear an additional financial burden of 6.55 crore rupees on these 28 Sanskrit schools and colleges and 11.18 lakh rupees would be spent on these 61 Madarsas per year.
