The Uttar Pradesh Government has given its approval for filing of FIRs against officers and employees found guilty in the multi-crore food grain scam, which took place in the state during 2002-2007.The State Government has informed the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court that the Special Investigating Team and the Economic Offence Wing are conducting probes in 14 districts of the state. A PIL has been filed in the court seeking CBI probe into the scam. The court has fixed September 17 as the next date of hearing.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that the food grain scam had surfaced in at least 31 districts of the state and those meant for distribution among the poor either free of cost or at highly subsidised rates were allegedly illegally diverted out of the state and in some cases, out of the country as well by forging documents.
