In Uttar Pradesh no untoward incident was reported from any where in trouble hit Saharanpur where curfew was relaxed for four hours in all six police station of curfew bound areas. The curfew was relaxed in two phases.
AIR correspondent reports that in the first phase curfew was relaxed for four hours from 07.00 AM in the old city which is dominated by Muslim population.
In second phase relaxation was given from 3.00 PM to 7.00 PM in the New city area. District magistrate Of Saharanpur Sandhya Tiwari told media that decision regarding further relaxation in curfew will be taken after review of the situation.
People offered Eid Namaj and were seen greeting Eid to each other. The district administration had appealed people for offering Namaj at their nearest worship places like mosques and Eidgahs.
Curfew was relaxed for four hours in all six troubled police stations of Saharanpur. During relaxation of curfew Muslim brethren offered Namaz at Jama Masjid, Eidgah and other places and exchanged greetings with each other.
Long queues were seen on the shops of sweets, daily need and grocery items. In New city where curfew was not lifted, prayers of Namaj were offered at the nearest places of their religious faith. Civil and police officials took rounds of the trouble hit areas and had keen vigil on the situation.
Heavy police forces including Central Para Military Forces and PAC are constantly patrolling and officials are keeping vigil on the situation. Security has been beefed up at 74 places in curfew bound areas.
Talking to media persons District Magistrate Sandhya Tiwari said as of now 43 people have been arrested and 22 FIR are registered. Prohibitory action is being taken against 33 persons.
She added that 165 shops including street carts were burnt or damaged in violent clash. DM told that two RAF personnel, one police man and two home guards are amongst the 22 injured during the clashes.
