In Uttar Pradesh both the independent MLAs Ajay Rai and Ram Prakash Yadav arrested recently for different criminal charges have been granted bail by local courts.<br/><br/> In Varanasi Mr. Rai obtained bail from the special Gangster Act court. The court found no substantial evidence' against him under the Gangster Act. The bail was granted on two bonds of 75,000 rupees each and personal surety. He was arrested in connection with setting ablaze a seed trader last week. The court observed that invoking of the Gangster Act could be with a political motive.<br/> In Firozabad district independent MLA Mr. Yadav, who had surrendered before a local court in connection with a five-year-old abduction case has been granted bail on health grounds. He was granted bail by additional session judge after furnishing two personal bonds of 50,000 rupees each.
