In Uttar Pradesh, the Ambedkar Gram Sabha Development Minister Ratan Lal Ahirwar on Thursday resigned from the Mayawati Government following his indiction in a corruption case.A couple of days ago, the state Lokayukta had recommended to the Chief Minister for his removal after indicting him in corrupt practices.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that the Governor BL Joshi has accepted the resignation and his department has been handed over to the Panchayati Raj Minister Swami Prasad Maurya.Lokayukta Justice NK Mehrotra had written to the government on several charges of corruption against the Minister including alleged misuse of Bundelkhand Development Fund, MLA fund and also on alleged grabbing of Gram Sabha land for the construction of a school in the name of his family member. He is accused of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income. The Lokayukta has also said that accused Minister was also awarded one year imprisonment from a local court in Shivpuri district in Madhya Pradesh. Ahirwar is an MLA from Babina in Jhansi. He is the fifth State Minister indicted by the Lokayukta for corrupt practices.
