<span style="color: #222222;">In Uttar Pradesh, taking a cue from PM Modi's call to eliminate use of plastic, municipal corporation of Lucknow has fixed the penalty on keeping plastic bags from yesterday. Now keeping plastic bags or throwing them on roads will attract a penalty of maximum 25 thousand rupees from any group or institute and one thousand rupees from individual in the city. <br />''<br />''The rules to stop and discourage the use of plastic were passed by the governing body of Municipal corporation few days back and the imposition of penalty started from yesterday. Corporation has launched a drive against the use of plastic and it will run for next two months. <br />''<br />'' In his address to the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort, Prime Minister said that single-use plastic poses grave threat to the environment. State government had recently swung in action to stop the use of banned plastic in capital city Lucknow. Additional Chief Secretary- Home, Awanish Awasthi in a statement issued few days back had said that concerned Police SHO, regional officer of Municipal corporation, trade tax and concerned magistrates and circle officers will be held directly responsible if restricted plastic is found selling in their area after August 31st.</span><br />
