UP Lokayukta recommends removal of SE Minister Rangnath Mishra

In Uttar Pradesh, the Lokayukta has recommended removal of Secondary Education Minister Rangnath Mishra from the post with immediate effect and lodging of criminal cases against him for his involvement in illegal activities.Justice N K Mehrotra has told AIR correspondent that he had also recommended CBI and Vigilance Commissioner's inquiry against the Minister for misuse of MLA fund and making illegal appointments at schools after taking bribes. He said that he has written a letter to Chief Minister Mayawati in this regard. The Lokayukta has also written to the state government about removing the Minister's occupation from the land grabbed by him at Sant Ravidas Nagar.AIR correspondent reports that Mr. Mishra would be the third Minister in the Mayawati government who has been indicted by the Lokayukta. Earlier, Animal Husbandry Minister Awadh Pal Singh Yadav and Religious Affairs Minister Rajesh Tripathi had to resign after they were found indulging in illegal activities in Etah and Gorakhpur districts.
