In Uttar Pradesh Lokayukta Justice NK Mehrotra has written to the newly elected chief minister Akhilesh Yadav recommending probe into complaints against former Mayawati government Minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui and her MLC wife Husna Siddiqui for allegedly amassing assets and indulging in large scale corruption.

He has said that probe should be conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation CBI and Enforcement Directorate ED.

AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that the Lokayukta had on February 22 this year made a similar recommendation to the then chief minister Mayawati.

However, she had turned down the recommendation saying that the Lokayukta has made recommendation beyond its jurisdiction.

Siddiqui was one of the most powerful Ministers looking after over 20 departments’ including public works department, health and family welfare, housing, irrigation, agriculture and mining among others.
